Cheap fixed wheelset - any recommendations?
I need a new fixed wheelset. Preferably in black. For road use, so needs to be clinchers and have brake compatible rims. Rear end is spaced at 126mm, in steel, so any width hub should be ok.
I would ideally like to spend less than a ton if possible.

126mm OLN rear hubs are a bit thin on the ground. Versions offered are 120mm OLN, 130mm OLN and 135mm OLN. If you try and use a 120mm OLN the problem will be with chain line.
Options are having rear spacing reset to 130mm OLN by a frame builder or use another frame. With weak dollar at the moment it is cheaper to order bits out of the US than pay importer's prices. I recently bought a pair of cartridge bearing L/F fixed fixed hubs from Harris Cyclery cheaper than I can buy one Surly hub. Harris hubs are only available in 120mm OLN but available in either polished finish or anodised black. Drillings are 32 or 36.0 -
I realise all of the above. I will re-space the rear end accordingly. I am looking for a factory built pair of wheels rather than handbuilts or parts.0

You couldn't go far wrong with a Formula/Ambrosio/System Ex track hubset on a standard road rim like a Mavic Open Pro - the hubs are all from the same factory - although some do have longer axles to make respacing to 126 or 130mm possible. There are some factory-build track wheels available but all come 120mm spaced e.g. Mavic or AmbrosioMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0
