right i wanna try the bike out first and my lbs sells these two which i am interested in
the Scott aspect 45 or the giant terrago
so the question is which bike?
http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-GB/bik ... 435/28846/
http://scottusa.com/gb_en/product/378/746/aspect_45
can anyone give any comments on which are the good/bad points and which one they would recommend

I'm normally a bit of a brand whore and also tend to judge books by their covers (and hence bikes by their decals, I'm a graphic designer and work in marketing, I can't help it!) so would say Scott as it's a much, much prettier and pricer looking bike.
I also wouldn't normally recommend a bike because it has better groupset components but to put Alivio/Acera 24 speed on it is pretty unforgivable and a pain to replace for 27 spd. That said, I'd expect (although don't know for sure) that the deore brakes would be better than the giant's...
It's a close call really, both have their compromises and if 24 spd isn't an issue for you I'd say the Scott.
I think there's currently a bike shop going out of business doing nice discounts on Scott Aspects via ebay... which might sway you a little...0 -
get the giant or spend an extra 50 and get the giant xtc 4.5 either way giant has better spec regardless of badges! the mph hydraulics are actually really good work horses and besides whos planning on breaking that much anyway!
Good luck whichever you go for two good bikesCarbon is a mans best freind0 -
Have you tested them? Both are very good value - not many 400 quid bikes have twin piston hydro brakes and a damped fork like the Scott.0

personally i would pick the terrago being a fan of giants bikes.
If you can get the extra £50 I would agree with strodey. The XTC has a much nicer frame which can easily justify upgrading to a higher level then you could the terrago frame.Giant TCR advanced 2 (Summer/race)
Merlin single malt fixie (Commuter/winter/training)
Trek superfly 7 (Summer XC)
Giant Yukon singlespeed conversion (winter MTB/Ice/snow)
Carrera virtuoso - RIP0 -
thanks
yeh i have tried both an compared to my current bike they are amazing
the problem is that in my lbs the forks are different so the giant has a good drive chain system but worse forks whereas the scott has the opposite0 -
Just bitten the bullet and got a Giant Terrago0
