Hi looking for a bit of advice with this

Last week i came off my bike when i hit black ice, anyway no harm done to me but the pannier rack took the hit and ended up bursting the bit that the allen bolt screws into on the rear of the frame. Anyway as you can it has left a wee hole in my frame . Does anyone have any idea on how to sort this or come up with an alternative to fix the pannier too.

Hmmm, that doesn't look too good.... I think (however much I love the idea of heath robinsonning it) that this may have to go to a alu bike welder for a fix and/or opinion.... the rivnut has broken out, taking a whole bunch of tube with it, I think? Now usually if the rivnut is shagged, or broken out, it usually hasn't done quite this much damage to the tube, and one can often fit a larger rivnut and use a larger bolt for the pannier/mudguard.

Even on my own bike, I think I'd be off to a frame builder to ask an opinion. I would be a little afraid that you have weakened the tube too much, and or that a crack could start from the ragged edges of that hole. I hate to be the bearer of bad&sad tidings but this one may be safety-critical.....
    Good luck in your quest....
If you're as fat as me, all bikes are bendy.

Ok thanks for that, round the hole circumference is quite a clean surface so it hasnt taken too much if any of the frame away. Ok seems i have two options seek out frame builder in central scotland (cant find any so far ) or see the mig welders at work :-)
