Hey, I'm looking at going clipless, and quite keen to go with eggbeaters. Does anyone know if you can get clip on platforms for the occaisional round-town use without cleated shoes?
I know they do clip on bits with reflectors for candys and smartys, but couldn't find any for eggbeaters. Any ideas?
Thanks, Jess.

You can use the ones from candys but to be honest they are rubbish any way.http://www.sketchymtb.co.uk/Blah.pl the new XC in Kent

They do work with egg beaters, but are not a great solution tbh.0

Just mentally trying to work out the balance between casual "can't be arsed to change my shoes" use and proper riding use.
Then make a decision as to sticking with the toe clips I have at the moment, or going clipless. And whether to go full egg beaters or find a clipless with a platform combo....

From my own experience, dedicated spd or flat pedals are always better. However,I have a pair of Shimano M424s which were on my xc bike, but are now are on my commuter.
They work reasonably well off road, though they are more prone to getting clogged with mud and are heavier, than non platform spds.
They are ridable with, normal shoes,if you can live with the pop up binding digging into your sole.OK for short commutes.
Shimano M5545 or 647s are similar but better constructed.2006 Giant XTC

Crank Brothers does make the acid pedal and mallet pedals. They both have a good sized platform.0
