Fixing the bottom bracket on my new (old) Raleigh
Replacing the bearings in my Raleigh Europa, thought I'd just try an old Shimano cartridge BB (whilst I wait for my bike shop to get the bearings in).
The old BB cup (drive side) screws in anti-clockwise and is marked 24 x 1.37 (suppose that's dia * thread pitch)
The shimano one is also marked 24 x 1.37, also seems to be LH thread but gets jammed when I start screwing it in.
Any comments? Can there be any obvious difference in the threads?

Could be that the threads are damaged on the frame. Get the LBS to run a tap through the thread. That should do the trick.I have only two things to say to that; Bo***cks0
