I was trying to remove one of the discs from my bike yesterday but one of the bolts on the disc has rounded off. Anyone any ideas for removing it without damaging the hub/disc?

cut a slot in the top and use a screwdriver.

That method worked for me too, but I had to angle the screwdriver into one edge of the slot and tap it to undo the rotor bolt.

Have done it a couple of times in the past and it works through.

  • If that fails try using a small punch or small chisel to tap one side of the head of the screw around to undo it, taking care not to slip off and damage the rotor and do not use too sharp a chisel/punch that it cuts through the head and leaves nothing else work with.

If all else fails you could try knocking in a very slightly bigger 'bit' tool, and tapping the head of the tool while applying force to undo it this can shock it into undoing.

failing all that take to you LBS and get tham to remove if they say they cant remove take to an engineers and they Should be able to remove by drilling it out

    hope this helps?
