I have a set of Avid Juicy 5 Hydraulic Disc and when i was transporting my bike in the car the brake calipers have almost closed together.

I was wondering how to get them apart because i cannot get the wheel back on the bike until I do.

Thanks for any help that any one can give.

    push them back in.

you need to put something between and force them back in.

Try a big flat bladed screw driver, just be careful.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
  • thanks for the help, have got them working just grand.
  • Try the 2 x 2p trick. Put two 2 pence pieces in there and that way you can prise them apart with a screwdriver without damaging the pistons.
  • MBUK (iirc) gave away a flat bottle opener that comes in very handy for this purpose - saves on the 2ps

    Just the right depth! :D
