Hi,
was down my lbs the other day and a couple of bikes cought my eye, a Marin Mount Vision and a Trek EX 9 both the same sort of price and both 08 models. Anyone got an 07 version of these or something along the same lines ? Just wondered what you think of them ? I've had a Marin before but never owned or riden a Trek. Looking to purchase one in the new year.

What MTB has a review of them both (well EX8 anyway), Vision wins if you want plush travel, for more XC work the Trek seems to have it. Know a couple of people with the Marin, they do love em, but seem a bit 'relaxed' for technical stuff, high BB and slack angles mean they arent so hot on twisty stuff, but supreem on fast DH work
Try the Marin though, if you ride heels in you may find your heals clip the pivots.
Am looking at the EX8 myself, will try one in the new year0 -
Thankyou, which month is the review in ?

I read the same issue you are referring to actually and absolutely love Marins myself. Don't have a full susser as yet but would without doubt put my hard earned £2k into a Mount Vision over any other! Currently building up a Rocky Ridge 07.
It is obviously personal but for me Marin are one of the best makers of bikes and have been for 20 years ( I remember when I was really young and Marin were the muts nuts then!). Every bike test I have read this year that has involved a Marin has seen the Marin model win (Attack Trail 07, Rocky Ridge 07, Mount Vision 07) and if I am not wrong the reviewer/ review commented in some way or other that 'it was the bike we didn't want to give back'. This is it in my opinion as biking is all about those smiles you get when hammering over a rock park, or just about holding it down on a corner.
To be totally honest there prob. isn't alot in the the Trek and Marin and that is why most people on here say how it is all down to personal feeling alongside myself - test ride 'em pal, for that money it needs to make you smile the most."If you think straight enough, you can see round corners"0 -
Couldn't get hold of issue 77 at my local whs, will have order a back issue of it unless anyone would be so kind and scan a copy of the review on the Marin and Trek ???
