Gary Fisher Piranha '08 Any good?

Ok, I have a budget of £500 and was checking out the Gary Fisher Piranha and the Scott Aspect 20. The Gary Fisher seems a better buy as it comes equipped with Sram gearing which I've been told is generally better than the equivalent Shimano. There doesn't seem to be much to choose between the frames and forks. Both have lockout and both have disc brakes. I'll be using the bike for a variety of activities but mainly cross county stuff in the peak district - nothing too extreme!
Any comments are most welcome!
Thanks.

I have just bought a GF Hookooekoo and used a Pirahana for sizing (only had a L hkek) It seems like a good buy imho. I used to be a slave to kona, but I loved the ride of the GF. The frame is bombproof and feels right. I can't comment on the scott.0

Hi,
Funny enough I was looking at those two bikes today with the same thing in mind. I'm not sure the Aspect has got such a good set of forks. The one's I saw in Leisure Lakes were functionally the same but Suntour not RockShock (a less well respected brand).
I also had a look at Giant XTC 4 which is well equipped and on sale everywhere for about £450 (not quite such a good frame I thought, slightly heavier and less advanced in appearance but I'm being super fussy), the kit list is really good for the money.
Also, if your budget stretches in the other direction a little, how about a Specialized Rockhopper Comp Disc Bike 2009 which looks good on paper.
I also looked at the Trek 6000 D which is good but not as good as the Gary Fisher.
If anyone has any of these bikes I'd like to hear.
