Front Mech = Shimano Deore
Shifter = Sram Attack
Frame = Giant NRS
Crankset = Shimano XT Hollowtech II

Right, I swapped these components from my XTC frame onto the NRS one last night. However, for the life of me, I can’t get the front mech to work properly. It will change between the granny and middle ring, but won’t move far enough out to change onto the outer ring.

I’ve tried moving the mech up/down, rotating the mech arm out and in, but still it won’t make the change.

It’s not the shifter as I’ve tried pulling the cable by hand to make it change.

It’s not the limit adjuster screws as I’ve tried them both fully removed and fully inserted

Even with the mech arm almost touching the crank arm, it still won’t change up to the outer ring – there doesn’t seem to be enough movement in the mech to make it reach.

I’m using exactly the same spacers for the bottom bracket bearing cups as from the XTC, I’ve even tried removing the drive side one to bring the chain rings in a couple of mm, but still no joy.

Suggestions please? (apart from going single ring!)

    i have a feeling that you will need to change the front mech.

    you have the one with the low band? you need the one with the high band.

    this is me going on a fuzy memory. please check.

    Yes, it's a low band Deore Mech.

    Any idea where I can find out information on this?

    a quick google shows lots of pics with high banded mechs. call your local giant dealer.
