I am converting my hack bike to be a bit of a load carrying tourer and want a smaller granny ring on the Mirage 9spd chain set to bring it down to the 26 teeth ring you get on touring shimano set ups. Campag don't seem to do them, any suggestions for the campag 5 bolt fitting from other manufacturers?

The smallest you will get with Campag is 30 teeth on the triple, 39 on standard double and 34 on the CT compact. The only way you will get any smaller is a new crankset to suit the rings you want. If your Mirage is a standard double with 135mm bolt circle diameter (BCD) the smallest ring that will fit from any make is 39 teeth. If you fit a touring crankset you will probably need a longer cage rear mech as well. To be more helpfull we need to know your current spec (double or triple, ring sizes and cassette sizes, short or long cage mech) and what you hope to be able to use. We could then offer you better advice.

If it's a triple the granny ring is the same BCD as other road triples (74), so will take a standard ring that size, and you can get as small as 24.

I am running a 24 on the inner of my Chorus Triple. TA do a really nice but expensive ring. Stronglight do a cheapy steel for about £6 (I've one of these on my tandem). Ring SPA Cycles in Harrogate. They are really helpful and carry loads of stock.

Thanks for the tips people. It is a triple mirage with the 5 bolt fixing so I assume that the smaller alternatives from spa will fit. Cheers all.
