What are peoples opinions on the wearing of masks ? The reason I ask is that living in Hong Kong, the air is appalling (at best). However, as I work outdoors and am in the crud all day, is there any benefit to wearing a mask whilst riding, and if so any recommendations would be much approeciated. Cheers.

I cannot comment on the benefits of the filtration...but I can say I wore one that doubled as a neck warmer when I used to ride a scooter, and after a 10 mile ride it would be wet with moisture. I'd guess breathing heavier on a cycle would make it even worse?

it looks a bit steep to me.....
  • They do make commuting masks, however the benefits of these are not entirely proven. They do take out most of the large particulate stuff, but they do nothing about the diesel particles that are much smaller and considerably more harmful.

However they (masks) certainly wont do you any harm though.
