Commencal Meta 4.3
Ssup!
A good friend of mine wants to get a bike and come out with us to ride into the sunset. He wants a F/S rig and has seen this Commencal, now I don't know much about makes or components of F/S bikes as I am a H/T only man.
I know Commencal are a decent make, the above bike seems to me to be OK - What are your thoughts? Anything else F/S out there for a similar price but better spec?
Thanks.

If it's his first bike I'd say he should get a sub £300 HT to learn on before getting a FS, otherwise he'll not be able to take advantage of it.
Having said that I'm on my second Commencal and can't recommend them highly enough! I have a 2005 Meta 5.3 and a 2008 Meta 55XT, they are differnet animals but both kick ass. The Meta 5.2 recieved 10/10 from MBR in 2007 [could be 2006], they are the nuts. I use mine for XC, enduro & moderate DH and it's never failed me. The only thing worth mentioning is that the 2005-2007 rear hubs don't last long in our winters but they've fixed that for 2008.
As for the good stuff, they grip soooo well, the suspension is spot on [fox rp2 & rl forks] and they are completey planted when going gets squirely. A mate of mine has both the Orange 5 and 66 xcel, the xcel just has it on the downs but otherwise the Meta keeps up with either bike and costs a lot less! Plus there's no suspension 'jack up' like with the single pivot Oranges. If he buys one he won't regret it!0 -
Thanks mate - Lots of good info in there for me to go through and let him know.0
