Hey everyone! I have recently brought an agressor 2.0 from my local bike shop. Im a complete newbie to the mtb world and have been having problems findng a clicking noise on my machine. The problem seems to originate from the pedals, under pressure they seem to click when completing revolutions.... is this something to be concerned about or am i just missing something really obvious that can be fixed quick. Could anyone replying break an explanation into very basic terms please all help appreciated

p.s sorry about the grammar...

  • Could be a couple of things, not necessarily your pedals even if you think thats where the sound is coming from as it tends to echo through tubing.

Assuming it is the pedals, have a really good look and see if you can find any obvious sings of cracking first, but other than that it sound slike you're going to have to have them open to find out whats going on. You can usually service them with just a socket set.

Is there any play in them?

...one simple solution worth trying is to undo the pedals from the cranks, put a small amount of grease on the threads and refit them...all I can say is it's worked for me several times over the years when I have had clicking pedals...
...all the way...'til the wheels fall off and burn...

I occasionally get a dull clicking noise/sensation coming through the pedals, some guys in my cycling group reckon it could just be dirt/muck in the chain as it strikes the chainset as it doesn't happen regularly or for very long when it does happen.

I just put up with it, although if a bit of grease on the threads has cured similar problems then I may give it a go. There's nothing to lose doing that anyway!

  • Depending on how recently you bought the bike, most shops offer a free tune up after a few weeks, it may be worth bringing it in to them, speaking about any problems that you are having and seeing if they can help. They should sort out the gears, brakes, make sure everything else is tight and warn you if the bike has started to develop any sorts of problems as well as advising on maintenance and basic servicing.
