Have been told by head office i'm using internet too much and they can track my usage by the amount of 'traffic' but am I not constantly online because I connect to them by an LAN? Think thats right anyway, if this is the case can I close all my other applications messenger etc to appear less busy? And also can they see where i'm surfing or just how much of it I'm doing? Cheers.

  • Yes, they can monitor what you do online i.e. they can tell which websites you go to, how long your there etc. They can also with the right equipment monitor messenger etc.

If you are on a Lan, it doesn't matter as the traffic would be measured on the exit of the network on to the Internet.

Most compnies nowadays monitor Internet traffic, as there is too much on there that could cause them issues.
