Where to ride in Nottingham area?

I dont have a car and recently bought a new bike after several years without riding.
Are there any direct train routes to good places in the Derby Dales for a cheap >10 day return ticket.
Or anywhere else.

    I've heard that there is some good riding in Hemlock, near to Wollerton Park apparently. Other than that I've only really been to Sherwood Pines!

    i was reading in issue 77 of What Mountain Bike mag about Thieves Wood at Sherwood Forest...it looks really good. not sure if there's a direct train route, but it might be worth a look?

    it's just off the B6139 Coxmoor Lane according to the mag :)
