Chain Line on Stinky

Having just finished putting my Stinky (2nd hand frame) together the chain line seems to be off. When ever I put a back pedal in the chain comes off towards the frame.
IS this due to the bottom bracket being the wrong axle length (I think I've got a 113mm on there or it might be a 118mm - I honestly can't remember)
Would this be solved by a chain device?
Or am I looking at a new BB in a longer axle length (which I really can't afford right now)
Also would the mech hanger being slightly bent in towards the rear wheel be a factor (the gears are aligned spot on)

Cheers

    the chain comes of where?

chains are not meant to be back pedaled...

    how many gears?

and bb length is on www.konaworld.com

My apologises, the chain comes off at the chainring, and its even when the chainring just rotates back when I'm just balancing.

if the mech hangar doesnt rub the chain then its not that
I take it you are running a single ring up front .
the chain shouldnt come off when you back pedal are you sure the ring isnt bent?
does it come off easier in some gears than others? if your bb is too wide i would expect it to come off easier in lower gears as the side load on the chain would be greater.
if the chain looks to be way out even in the top gear then yes your BB is too wide and you will HAVE to get a new one.
Its not possible to tell whether a CD would work.
if the front ring is sort of in line with the centre of the cassette (it doesnt have to be spot on) i dont see why one wouldnt :?
I never touched it! It was broke when I got here.

when in the 5th rear cog the chain should be straight. (on a 9 speed set up).

if you just have one cog on the front it should be in the middle position and a device is almost 100% needed.

How many rings are you running on the front ?

If its one, are you running a chain device ?

And for the record, i run a 113mm bb with an MRP bommerang which spaces it out by 4mm. Chain line is almost perfect when running in 5th.

from looking at the above points I'm running 9-speed and its looking like a chain device is going to resolve it. cheers for the clarification.
