bikes all over the house?

following up the best bike thread, and in the spirit of christmas fun ... I wonder how many bikes people here have? not sure if we can count small disused old kids bikes etc. I'm really talking about serviceable adult bikes.

I only have 4 in my house:

best road bike
second best road bike (but still good)
TT bike
GF's bike.

I need a commuter/hack bike for darting around london and riding in the rain. I'd also like another "best equal" road bike, but that is a bit much I must admit.

Has anyone here got a really big collection or bikes??

I did have two cheap road bikes, but one went back to the shop due it's inability to stay in one piece and I got my money back. My parent's have limited me to two bikes max, (but that's better than the zero I was allowed for the last 10 years) so I was going to have to get rid of one them anyway when it came to getting £1000+ next bike.

    My Only Bike:

Carrera Virtuoso (eventually to recieve an upgrade to whatever campag stuff I get cheap off ebay)
    I like bikes...

    1 X veteran fixed 1940's unknown
1 X Lo Pro poss Tefler
1 X SS On One Mtb
1 X road bike Hoban (spare?)
1 X Dutch sit up and beg (sold and on the way to a new home)
1 X Peugeot road bike (used on rollers) and for sale
and I've just sold 2 other Mtb and 2 frames, 1 X Hetchins and a Paris.
    This doesn't look good typed...............................
  • I am a terrible horder. Much like books, I just can't bring myself to throw old bikes out or sell them on - and they all have a use of their own still, though it drives the wife bananas. Long and short of it is that we have 8 bikes between us...

    1) Best road bike (Orbea Mortirolo)
    2) Old road bike (Raleigh Ultimate) with knackered STI lever and tired groupset (probably not worth repairing fully unless I fancy 'a project' over the summer, but still good for a blast in the wet sometimes).
    3) MTB (Kona Caldera)
    4) Old MTB (Falcon Fat-track - my 'going to the shops/chaining up in public' bike).
    5) Wife's MTB (Claude Butler Pine Lake)
    6) Tag along for the boy (Avenir T100) does this count?
    7) Boy's first bike (Raleigh Olly)
    8) Boy's new bike (Ridgeback MX16) (currently up the loft, to be revealed on Xmas morning).

Best bike - use in summer and races etc.
Winter bike - use in winter!
Fixie - use all year round particularly in the winter or the summer for a bit of a change/fun.

I am thinking of getting a dedicated TT rig as well and also a fixed frame that will take full mudgaurds and also a new summer bike and maybye a mountain bike...

Roadbike, hardtail and a cheap full-susser thingy that got me back into cycling after about 8 years off.

We had a garage clear out early last summer so some old frames went to the tip. My dad's archaic Claud Butler was one of them but he wouldn't let his Flying Scot go.

After a new roadbike early next year but I've already had the "well there's no room for another bike in the house" so I guess either the Allez or the Hardrock will be joining the Diamondback in the garage. :(

    Best bike - waterford R33

    Winter/commuter- Cannondale R900

    MTB/commuter - Marin Novato

    Wife - Dawes Giro 300

i want/need a proper commuter/wet weather bike with proper mudguards and, for no rational reason, a full carbon bike like a Parlee.

    Me:

    Road bike (summer)
    Road bike (winter/commuter)
    MTB (HT)
    MTB (HT/SS)

    Mrs TomF

    Road bike (summer)
    MTB (HT)
    Shopper/hack

Next on the list for me: track bike (for the track, not fakenger-ing)
  • Five bikes:
    FS MTB - Giant VT
    HT MTB - Kona Kula
Rigid MTB commuter - Diamondback Topanga
    531 Reynolds roadie (80's) - Raleigh 'something'
GFs MTB - Merlin frame made up

+ 2 frames, numerous wheels, about 4 spare suspension forks, boxes of spares, piles of tires, etc.....

I am having to get rid of the Kona and the roadie (I'd rather keep the Kona too! :( ) plus all the 'non-essential' spares as I am moving into a flat with the GF from Christmas and we'll have a bit of trouble with just my two and the Merlin. Probably more realistic though.
