£500 Hardtail? Freeride/XC/Lite Downhill

Hi.
I want to get into freeriding/XC/and a bit of downhill..... I have a budget of around 500 pounds and i am looking for a bike which can do pretty much all of those. Though im not quite sure what to buy? Ive looked at the Norco Rival but im not completely sure, so could you guys please help to find what to buy?
