This morning i was cleaning my bike and I came across a big crack in the frame. As you run dwon from the stem along top tube, the crack is an inch or so behind the seat post part of the frame. the crack goes most of the way round the frame, what do i do? any suggestions please.

Agreed. Your frame's goosed to put it mildly.

no chance of getting something like welded? or is it time to save for new frame.

  • Can't be arsed to see whether the Rhythm is steel or not,and you don't say what version it is.
Cove Stiffee frame would be my answer though 8)

    The rythm is steel.
You could re-weld it, I wouldn't bother though, as it could fail again.

Sounds like you havent inserted the seatpost far enough into the frame.

how much difference does having the seat post far down do? the seat post is actually very short. i just measured it and it's only 15cm, could this be the reason for the frame cracking?

15 cm??? is that how much was actually in the frame? if it is then thats loads i would have thought.
  • 15cm is plenty to be in the frame. dunno what could have caused it though.
try welding if you're cheap and won't be surprised if it goes again. personally i'd be saving or a new frame.

yes i run the seat very low so the whole 15cm is in the frame.

dude - if your frame is cracked THAT bad, then you're gonna have to get a new one!

contact DMR, see what their warranty restrictions are like and take it from there.

it may suck, but it'll suck a LOAD less than if you crash on that thing and spend "X" months in hospital....
