ok maybe im set in my ways but cant see anything to compete?
building up a meta5.5 im conscious of the 1150g/ tyre! (trying to stay around 30lb)
I dont want the hassle of flatting single plys in saving weights -
so, are there any other lighter dual ply alternatives??
was considered tubeless to save weight but it was suggested the weight ends up about the same as tubes? cheers

I use Ignitor FR 2.35 LUST at 805g each. That would be a saving of nearly 500g per tyre compared to what you've got.
Another alternative would be Michelin Mountain Extrem 2.2 either in UST or "Reinforced"."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0 -
Been using single ply high rollers and lopes bling blings with xc tubes, no punctures yet !
I think there is a bit of a myth that single ply maxxis tyres puncture easy, they dont. If i'm riding proper dh, where there are rock gardens and general nasties that eat tyres, then i'll stick the dual ply's on. For everything else its the single ply's, they are a lot stronger than your standard xc tyre.Intense Socom

The single plys need a bit more pressure to withstand snakebites than the dual plys obviously. The USTs sit somewhere between, stiffer than single plys but not as heavy as dual. The problem with USTs is that there's nowhere near the choice of patterns or compounds.
I'd love to run 2.35 Minions DHF 42a and DHR 60a USTs for example but they don't exist!"Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0
