Marin Bobcat Trail or Genesis Core 1.0

I am looking to get a bike for XC and road use.

I have been looking around and have narrowed my choice to either of these; Marin Bobcat Trail or Genesis Core 1.0.

Any advice or opinions would be much appreciated.

The 2008 versions?

Worth testing both, but the Marin is poorly specced for the money. The fork is a pogo stick, completelty undamped The Genesis has, well, better everthing!
