How does the company work? I see they are often referred to as a Swiss company but I know they originated in the states and are called Scott USA on their website? Just interested to know if I'm riding a Yank or a European steed! Although I guess its Taiwanese if you're being honest!

Scott was a USA based bike company but they did not sell well so the pulled out of the USA with the bike side. they still have the MC/Snow etc based out there while the Bike business landed finally in Switzerland. And they then built up the bike busines in Europe.

Fron about 2000 they dropped the usa of the frames.

    I have a 99 Scott usa and a 2003 Scott.

    go figure.

    i would say bastard child.

not sure of the exact links. but a global company. Just going by the name of scott.

but they are all under Scott sports SA. the .SA is very European. so they may have shifted the HQ for all to Europe.

I think its "Société Anonyme" (it is in France anyway).

It's basically a type of corporate entity. IIRC, it's the equiavlent to a limited company in the UK.

AFAIK Scott bikes are Swiss-based - they took the USA moniker to make themselves more attractive across the pond. The bikes are probably made in Taiwan anyway - like many bike companies, I'd say they were a marketing company - sourcing products globally and having no 'manufacturing' base. They are listed on their website as Scott SA which is a French/Swiss company means of incorporation.
