Hi. while out today, my bike stopped freewheeling. It's under guarantee so I'm taking it back in the morning, but for future reference, is there anything that can be attempted roadside to get it working again? For the record I tried taking the wheel off and pouring loads of oil into anything I could see that might move, and it's a Decathlon Triban trail with Shimano tourney Parts

Andy

BTW Is it "ShimARno" Or "ShimAYno"

Sounds like a seized freehub bearing - not much you can do at the roadside to try and solve as you need to disassemble the cassette and freehub body to get at the workings, and even then it's probably an LBS job to replace the bearing / ratchet mechanism.

Bet that was a pain to ride home trying to keep pedalling all the time!

Yeah, struggle up the hills, then downhill, instead of a nice free ride, pedaling with the brakes on. Not much fun! At least it was only 6 miles or so.

    Thanks for the replies guys.
