Hi,
Welcome along to the forum. THere's a lot of help to be had here. If you look at the sticky threads at the top of this forum or the beginners, there's a good guide to roughly what to expect for your money. It depends what you want from the bike, but generally full suspension at this price range is very heavy, very flexible and fairly soggy to ride.
Best plan is to get out into some proper bike shops, and look at the bikes. If you find one of those Moto max's, try to pick it up, then go and pick up a hardtail. They'll be a big difference. As with all things, it all comes down to what you want to do and how much you can spend. Your local bike shop will best be able to point you in the right direction.
If you need further convincing, read this earlier thread about cheap bikes:
cheapo bikes
Work out what you need - is it just a road bike or are you looking at 6ft drop offs?, try some out, then decide.
Oops, sorry, you say you'll use it for college commute etc. I'd suggest the raleigh would be quite heavy for that, and sluggish should you come to a hill.Proved by testing to be faster than a badger.

Welcome to the forum
I wouldn't touch a full sus bike at this price. Have a look at the sticky thread and try out a few of the suggestions - they really are some of the best bikes for the money!
Good luck, and let us know what you go for!0 -
heeeeeeeeeeeeelllo!!! and welcome!!!
as the chaps say.. a ful sus for that sort of money will be pants..
why not look on ebay for a SH bike for around the same sort of cash..
my mate just got a gt chucker and iv just got my hands on a kona stuff for round the same price!!!...
if you look about im sure you will find something buddy.. and, if you do find something like a good hard tail you can have some fun on the way to and from college by popping onto and off of stuff on the way!!..
then at weekends you can go sess the local woods!!http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc1/ ... ogs066.jpg

TBH, i'd look at getting an old road bike with horizontal dropouts and having a crap single speed runaround bike. Much less likely to get nicked, light as anything and erally enjoyable to ride. There must be some second hand bike shops in glasgow, ask them if they can sort you out something.0
