Does anyone actually drink and like mulled wine?

Anyone? It does taste okay, but I'd never make it for me... And if I'm round at a friends drinking it I know they'll have nicer proper wine as well... And if I'm at a work do, I'm not wasting free-drink-space on something sugary with mysterious bits in.

I did make mulled cider last year, it seemed okay...

  • It is hideous!

That said, that may be the cinnamon in it. Ever since I was 3 and rammed a cinnamon Tic Tac up my nose, which got stuck and required hospital vist to remove, I have never been a fan of that particular flovour.

Therefore Mulled wine is the work of Satan himself.

Glühwein should only be drunk outside in the cold, or inside if you've just been skiing. Anything else is a waste of wine.

Actually I quite like it, especially with a nip of rum.

Is it like Buckfast, then? (Except for the skiing of course.)

it's a good way to use up gravy wine, if you add the right spices

tastes nice, add some brandy and it's killer

Last weekend, after the (cold, outside, forever)photo call at my bro's posh wedding,we were greated with trays of mulled wine, which was rather a nice suprise. Not quite as good as the copious amounts of FREE rose Champers which followed!.
Knowing the bar prices of the establishment in question, much advantage of the free drinks was taken :P

Are there any cities in the UK which currently aren't hosting a German market? The Gluhwein last night was scrumcious.

It's OK if drunk outside in the cold air, but for warmed booze at home I prefer sake.

Had it after the Fireworks display. Shertainly warmed me up. Hic !
  • real wine or vodka based glögg is yummy, but the fruity squash based stuff is urk!
  • Its OK as long as it has a good shot of Brandy mixed in with it.

    Otherwise its insipid.
