Kinesis TT & Carbon Frames

Just a quick question regarding Kinesis frames,

I saw these two frames recently at a local bike meeting and thought they looked very nice plus the carbon one was very light (not sure of the specs the guys used for their gears etc.)

TT Frame 7005 alu, plus carbon stays

Race Frame full Carbon, plus carbon fork

But,

I've never seen any reviews or recommendations on Kinesis, I remember having an old kinesis mountain bike frame years ago and it was extremely tough, durable a survived numerous crashes.

Has anyone got any of these, any experience of Kinesis?

Considering the TT frame is £499 and the Carbon £799 both include frame, seatpost, fork/aero fork and headset, I thought for the price and weight (with regard to price) they were well worth looking at.

Cheers

You in the States or UK BubblinSergeant? Here in the UK there have been good reviews of the KR-810, including Cycling Plus magazine, which I shall try and get hold of a pdf copy if you want it.
  • I'm in the UK, but have never seen any Kinesis review (in any mag) a PDF would be good if you have it available.

After seeing these two bikes recently in the flesh I could be tempted.

    Cheers for your help.

Had an Kinesis kic, carbon rear end. Raced it for the last 2 years very good to ride as is the finsh, have you gone for the KR 810 yet. I could be getting one in summer the white one looks good.Kinesis are renowed for there finsh and quailty.
  • Hi there.

At £499 the TT frame is cheap, but from first glance:

    - Head tube is too high to get a really low position
    - Cable routing is not internal
    - 76 degree seat angle is not steep enough (for me anyway)
    - 1550g is heavy
    - Vertical drop outs do not allow you to take advantage of the cut out seat tube

Hence I don't really see the benefit of buying this as a dedicated TT frame - you'd be better off with a ten year old Cervelo.

    Cheers, Andy
