Apologies! But I know if I post this in a Linux forum I'd get dweebed out of my skull.

I've just loaded an image of Ubuntu 7.10 into VMware player and it's asking for a username and password. I'm no tecchie and have no prior with linux... Can anyone help me please? Please???

According to website it does not need username or password, try their support page:

OK got it, way too tedious to add here but suffice to say that you do need a username and password.

What do you think of it?

I have just installed Kubuntu 7.1.

I liked it given that I've not looked at linux for about 4 years - it's come on quite well although it's still not up to the job that Windows and OSX can fulfil for desktop purposes.

  • Depends what you need from your desktop.

I've been running Ubuntu exclusively for 3 years now, and really don't miss OS X at all. In fact, when I do sit down at an OS X machine I tend to find it a frustrating experience.

But, like all things, it depends on what it is you want to do. Right tool for the right job.
