loose spokes - dangerous??

just checking my bike over when i got back from commute this evening and found two loose spokes on the back wheel. dont know the first thing about bike maintenance but found that the end had come unscrewed from the rim and was therefore pushed into the rim (if that makes sense?)
re-screwed them in by hand and then tightened with some pliers. is this safe to ride still?
even if they came loose again the bike seemed to ride ok. could loose spokes cause any real damage / accident?
hope not as desperate to ride in 2mor!

If you only have 4 spokes and two loose your in trouble
get a spoke key and tighten them to similar tension as others. Pick them with fingers when tightening and compare to good spokes.
When they are similar give wheel a spin and check for true.
I wont explain how to adjust there are many websites that will explain
As long as it does not rub your brakes should be ok to get you to lbs to true if you dont want to have a go 0
