Trek 1.7 - 1.9 2008 for sportives?
Has anyone bought or tried out any of the new Trek 2008 1.7 or 1.8? I'm after a new road bike as my work have signed up to cyclescheme but the top end of my budget would be £1000 as that is the most that the scheme allows (you can of course add on extra if you want of your own money)
I'm aware of course that the best bike for me is ultimately the one that fits best rather than one brand being "better" than the other but in terms of value for money has anyone got any advice on the £750 - £1000 price range? I currently have an Edison cyclocross that someone kindly gave to me and it has a great strong steel frame which probably is more durable than a lot of £1000 new bikes but I'm entering the world of sportives soon and think a new bike may be in order.

You can get the Planet-X full carbon road for £999 on the cycle 2 work scheme.

you could spend £99 of your own money and get a 07 spesh roubaix comp for 1099.......rrp was £1499 paid full whack for mine in the summer but couldnt be more pleased with it. would be a perfect bike for sportives etc. would be lower groupset but crucially a full carbon frame much less shock from road and more comfort over long distances, i feel much less fatigue on longer rides than any other road bike ive ever owned.0

you can't add money to the cycle2work scheme any more - the govt closed that option in January this year.
I just passed up our cycle to work scheme for pretty much that reason. I didn't like the planetx, focus cayo or raleigh airlte (the best contenders in the scheme at £999)0
