Hatton vs Mayweather

Not long to go now. Surely the most anticipated fight of recent years. Who's going to win? The pundits seem split on whether Hatton can do it but there's some rumours going around that Mayweather has some problems with his hands. Everything seems fine and dandy in the Hatton camp.
I've not seen Mayweather fight before but I've heard he's very skillful. But I've seen Hatton swarming over opponents and landing heavy hits so its got to be close whatever the result. I'd love to see Ricky win it. Don't know how I'm going to follow it. Is it on the radio or on the net anywhere?

Probably be on the radio. I remember as a kid getting up to listen to the Ali fights. Exciting stuff.
I might pay the £15 and get it on the TV. Anyone know what time it actually kicks off?Beer, the reason my ambitions have not become my achievements0 -
That's the problem. I don't mind paying but don't want the usual thing where an advertised 11pm start becomes 4am. Watched the Costa Tzu fight with an aussie. As an adopted manc it was priceless.Dan0

I think it's going to be around 3 or 4am. So do you stay up all night drinking with pals (one of my mates is having a boxing party starting at around 10pm on Saturday and going through the night  ) or do I set the alarm and get up early on Sunday morning.
The latter sounds more sensible but way less fun 8)Beer, the reason my ambitions have not become my achievements0 -
It's scheduled to start at 4.00 but with all the walking to the ring and the 'let's get ready to ruuummmmble' stuff going on it'll probably be gone 4.30 by the time it starts.
Mayweather is very, very good. There's a reason why he's the marked favourite at the bookies.
The gossip is out there about his hands. He's been cancelling open training sessions but who knows what's really going on.
Hatton has got a chance. He seems to have the full-on style that won't suit Mayweather. But, he's very easy to cut. He's got to hope the referee will allow the fight to continue even if the cuts look bad.
It's on radio 5 and also on Sky Box Office for £15.00. Some people are saying it's on internet torrent sites for free but I don't know how things like that work!
My money (literally) is on Hatton to win in the sixth. 50/1. Come on!0 -
I think (and really really hope) that Hatton will win. I think his courage and willl to win may be too much for Mayweather. I just hope that whatever happens he retires rich and careful before he takes a too much punishment.Dan0

I too want Hatton to win, he seems a top bloke. There can be no question about his commitment to this fight or his preparation, I just hope he doesn't get cut early on and bows out on a technicality or some such - that would be a big disappointment.
I will watch the news on Sunday morning to find out how he's done, and then go for a bike ride
What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!0 -
Would love to see Hatton do it. Styles make fights and these two are made for each other. Hatton's gonna have jump on mayweather from round one and try and stop mayweather getting into a rythym. Mayweather is a superb defensive boxer, just hoping ricky can get to the body early and break him up a bit! This really could live up to the hype!0

I'm at All Tomorrow Parties when this is on damnit... hopefully they'll be showing it somewherePurveyor of sonic doom

I reckon Hatton stands every chance. While Mayweather is indeed an excellent defensive fighter, there is nobody better than Hatton at unpicking defenses and he particularly likes attacking opponents who fight from the ropes. The Mayweather camp have been juvenile and rude in the lead up to the fight - it is only right that they have the smirks wiped off their faces. So long as Hatton doesn't tire himself out in the early rounds, my money is on a stoppage in the 8th.0

It has the look of Duran v Leonard part1 or Hagler v Leonard it would be great to see Hatton win it and I hope he does but Mayweather is the real deal could be an all time great fight.0
-
I'm going to have to set the alarm and listen to it in bed then I think. Hopefully the beeb will manage to do a deal and get the rights to show it a week or so after the event like they did with the Calzaghe fight. Although Sky might not want to start going down that route as surely alot of people will just bide their time til they can watch it on terrestrial. Hopefully it'll be all over within a few rounds courtesy of a Hatton stoppage and I can get some shut eye!0

No one can question the heart of Hatton.
Unfortunatley I think the Mayweather has too much class for him and will pick him off.0 -
Love to see Ricky win, agree with the above that the more I see and here of him he seems a bloody decent bloke. Not lost in showbiz like most of our top sportsmen.
Have seen Mayweather a few times and there is a reason why he is called pretty boy still, he don't get hit!
I haven't been this excited about a fight for years and hope it lives up to expectations and I can stay awake long enough to watch it!0 -
What about if Hatton sneaks a low-blow in early doors just to ring Mayweather's bell a bit, might make him keep his guard low

Does anyone know if this will be showing in any pubs on Saturday? I know that the Sports Cafe has sold out of tickets (not that I'd fancy going there anyway). Anywhere in Hackney, Haringey or central would be good for me. I just can't wait for this one!Where\'s me jumper?0

It won't start til 4am so I doubt many places will show itroad0 -
Ok, so 50 million people in China will be tuning in along with millions of others over the globe (according to the bbc)....so the odds are its got to be streamed online somewhere?! Anyone got a suggestion or a link? I tried googling for fights before with no luck but I'm sure this will be on somewhere given the amount of interest.
I'm going for a Mayweather win btw. I was watching Hatton vs Tszyu and Mayweather vs La Hoya on youtube last night and Hatton takes so many more hits than Mayweather. The style of fight was very different but I think Mayweathers technical quality will win it. Probably points, maybe a 10th round stoppage on cuts.0 -
I'm for Hatton to win, I don't think that MW will be able to cope with the pressure, he's the taller fighter of the two and is probably more comfortable with his opponents on his reach, Hatton will do his work on the inside and watch for openings to the body, wait for that elbow to shift and ruin MW's legs.
I just hope is doesn't waste himself in the early part and let MW work him for points in the later. Hatton should also use his jab, he's always hooking and leaving his chin out (which is solid, if there is going to be KO I doubt that it will be Hatton going down, especially with MW 'poorly hands' rumour.
Give us a shout if you find anything, I'm Skyless and have been waiting for this fight for ages. I don't want to spend Sunday in a blindfold w/ headphones like i did the Calzaghe fight in November. I'm going to check the Hatton website, they have a forum so that's the likely place get info on where it's showing.Where\'s me jumper?0 -

Likewise Simon. I'll have a check here in the early hours to see if anyone's come up trumps. I'm sure there's a few pubs that will be showing it but I suppose best if you're a regular. Some pubs in Manchester would be good venues I imagine.0 -
Shouldn't this be in " Special Interests"...

What a pity Ricky Hatton isn't going in the ring with Floyd Landis on Sunday morning – I'd definitely stay up til 4am to watch that one.0

The llink doesn't work Mr Wolf.
Do you think Hatton made a prick of himself at the weigh in.
Was his bad language really necessary do ya think?
It didn't seem to go down too well with the commentators.0 -
What did he say? Didn't hear what he said.0

Link worked but bit suspicious about downloading the software. Ah well, worth a crack I suppose.0
