Ok.........................I give in.........................wtf is "going ape" :?:0

Sorry, should've Googled first of course..............

We've got an "Aerial Extreme" near us which my lad had his 11th Birthday party at last year. Guess who got to shepherd him and his mates around 40 feet up. 'Twas great fun I have to say.
I did feel sorry for his little mate who quite frankly did not want to be there. He got stuck on one of those "leap of faith" obstacles where you have to jump across a narrow gap.............a long way above the ground.
It was my job to spur him into action with helpful comments such as "Are you alright lad................you're shaking like a shitting dog there?" and "Go on jump, what's the worst that could happen to you?".0 -
Did it on saturday, was a fantastic adrenaline rush!
Really great day out for a group of friends.....just make sure they are all aware of just what it entails....one of our group gave up because she just couldn't do it."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -
It always looks fun at Swinley forest, but I'm always much happier to be riding straight by them to the singletrack !0
-
There's one in Delamere Forest, I've always wanted to have a mooch around but will wait until mini McBain is a bit older (I think that 21 months is a wee bit too young to be clambering around trees). Mind you, by then I will be in my late forties and distinctly unimpressed at the thought of dangling around by ropes 40ft above the ground
What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!0 -
I hated every second whilst I was up there, but no it's over I am well chuffed that I have done it.
Not sure I want to complete the set and do the other sites though.0 -

They do a great "in-house" mag with some nice articles about mountain biking too.
If only my hands hadn't have been shaking I would have read it!0 -
Yeah we did it last year - fantastic fun. The zip wires are brilliant. We did it at Delamere and will go back when we get round to it.0

I don't get it. How can this be fun? Is it just the idea of swinging around on ropes n stuff 40ft above that gets the adrenalin rushing? Looks kinda boring, not that i would know mind.0

As I work in construction, I get all the rushes I need when I go up the scaffolding on a windy day  - but my son and his mates loved it - even the one who was sh*t scared, because he got a buzz from completing the course in the end, and I got a buzz from motivating and talking him through it.0 -
Do you need to wear a crash helmet :?:

Terrifying, exhilarating, exciting, methodacle..........
My wife loved it, I was scared but a great sense of achievement.

would be better if they gave you a bike (no tyres, just rims) to go flying down that zipwire...Looks fun tho0
