Anyone recommend a good maintenance book for road bikes to ask Mrs Feel for as a Xmas pressie :)

edit :  meant to put this in "cake stop"

  • "Zinn and the Art of Road Bike Maintenance" and Park Tools' "Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair" are both very good.

Zinn doesn't have photographs - just good explanations and well-drawn diagrams.

The Park Tool book has lots of photos.

cheers - do you think one is slightly better than the other? Anyone else any views on these two (or others)

  • I think there is very little to choose between either of them. If I had to make a decision I would go for the Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair because of the photographs. Others may prefer the larger format of the Zinn book and the consequently larger diagrams.
  • Bought the zinn book myself , no foto's but loads of "exploded" diagrams covering both campag and shimano.

yeah have tried that before - taking my laptop into the garage when working on my motorbike - oil and dirty finger marks all over the screen and keyboard
