Regardless of price, what are the best for road use? I want hot feet!

I don't think any could guarantee hot feet on there own, i'd say that keeping legs warm to start with should be something to aim for. Never tried them myself but something like the Shimano SH-RW02 winter boot + any decent overshoe (Altura Stream Overshoes) would be a good starting point for hot feet, a bit pricey though.

I use woollie boolie socks and standard Altura neoprene OS (not sure which version)

Good enough for most days. If it's really cold then it's usually my face that suffers first, rather than my feet.

These are sometimes too warm for me so may be what you require. I have used them for the last year or so with good results on wet and cold rides.
