hi all ive jrecently bought one of these out of the local freeads for 10 squid to use it as a winter bike to get me to work.i was pleasantly surprised when i got there as the bloke says it had hardly been used and it looked to me like it probably hadnt for a while-just stuck in the shed.
ive cleaned it today to restore its original beauty

the gears are indexed with down tube shifters(sach classic 2000 6 speed:? )not sure wether this is an 80s or early 90s bike

does anybody own one? the frame is light green and purple(might look like a bianchi at first glance..lol)

hope it lasts the winter and i can get some miles out of it..its farily heavy so may be good for some strength training.

Is it definitely called an eclipse?

I've got an old peugeot in the garage - carbolite 103 tubing and mudguard eyes, think it's an elite. My first proper road bike was a Peugeot in 501 tubing with a 5 speed block and double chainrings. Can't remember what it was called but don't recall it being eclipse - I just had it in mind that it was something similar though. I remember thinking it was the dogs bollocks at the time.

has it got a 24mm seat pin ..ie small diameter??

if so its likely to be on of the carbolite 103 tubesets...

i had one as my 1st bike altho it was not that good it served its purpose...i even raced on it in my 1st season ( '84 )

should do a winter if you keep it clean etc as i suspect bit sfor it would make it uneconomical if it goes "pete tong" ...

    Isn't that a Tristar?
  • Slightly off topic, anyone remember the early 80's Peugeot Super Champion PX1. I lusted after that bike. It was 531 with Stronglight chainset and Mafac brakes but I can't remember what gears it had. It had tubs fitted as standard though. Nice bike.
