I have just purchased a shimano CS-6600 11-23T (10speed) and reading the instructions there is a warning that if I am using a triple chainwheel, that gear shifting performance will drop, and the bicycle may fall over and serious injury may result.
This item should be paired with a double chainwheel.

My current bike is a triple.
Is this just one of those warnings to cover any issues, or has anyone had any problems with this cassette and triple chainwheel combination.

Thanks
Barry

I don't see any problems using it with a triple or a double. I have seen that warning
on a variety of Shimano products. It's just C.Y.A. (cover your *ss).

  • Thanks for that Dennis.
I will throw it on my wheel and give the cassette a go.

    A guess...
Some fool, somewhere, has used a triple with a short cage road mech and a chain that's a bit on the long side, so when in small/small the mech wouldn't tension the chain properly and the cage inverted or something. They then got chainslip and fell off under a car, and they/their dependents sued Shimano and got a payout.

I wonder where that could be......
