I've got an old mate who's never really been into cycling but is looking at buying a bike.

He's got about £550-600 to spend and has been looking at a Specialized Rockhopper Disc 2007 model.

Could you guys give me some recommendations as to some alternatives that I can show him?

Cheers in advance for your help on this one.

I know there's alot out there was just wondering id=f anybody has any ideas of which models offer good value for money.

probably lazy on my behalf but was hoping to reduce the amount of legwork I had to do.

GT Avalanche 1.0, GT Aggressor XC1, Trek 6500, Carrera Fury are a few others.

Thanking you, I shall cast an eye over the above. :)
  • look at the Malt 1 from Merlin at around that price range, good frame, great spec, handbuilt wheels and if you visit the shop excellent service, for that money you would be hard pressed to do any better.

Wait till after xmas for the bargains to kick in, same bikes as now but cheaper, hopefully.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.
