Electrolyte replacement drinks

About 4 weeks ago I had a run-in with a particularly virulent tummy bug that had me spewing and crapping constantly for about 8 hours. I couldn't keep anything - including water - down and started to get dehyrdated (lips shrivelling up is a good sign according to my doc). He said that as soon as the puking and pooping abated I should get some electrolyte replacement drinks inside of me and recommended Dioralyte™, a powder that when mixed with water claims to replace lost body salts.

I tried it and it seemed just to mix into a tasty drink. However, since I have 5 sachets left, would this stuff make an effective "after-ride" drink to replace lost salts sweated out after grinding out the usual Sunday 70-miler?

If anyone else out there regularly tanks up with a "salt / electrolyte replacement" drink what do you use and what do you recommend?

What do I ride? Now that's an Enigma!

it has all the essential Sodium and Potassium salts your body needs for just about everything. Your body normally retains a certain level for proper functioning however when you get the runs a lot of salts and water get flushed out .
You can put the sachets with any fluid I put them with sparkling spring water as you can get them any lots of flavours. Excellent to take before or during your ride but not after. By the time you finish your ride it will be too late.It probably takes an hour or two for the body to use the salts.

Thanks for the feedback Peanut, I'll stash the sachets away for pre-ride and actual ride use. I prefer them to the SIS stuff because that seems to come loaded with aspartame and other weird sweeteners as well.
