ISIS Bottom Brackets

ok, ok, ok I know about all the bad press regarding ISIS bottom brackets and I know the reasons why. And yes, i wished I hadn't bough an ISIS chainset in the first place

However, I have a Stronglight Vulcan Chainset which is brand new (it's a replacement for one which I snapped) and I want to put it on my training bike. I previously used a Stronglight Twister BB, Ti axle, very light, 70 quid, but the bearings went a bit "rough" after not very long.

So, is there a lightweight, high quality ISIS BB out there?.

Cheers in advance

Craig

have a look at the SKF isis BB if you can find any. 10 year warranty iirc.

  • +1 for SKF. Wouldn't bother with PACE though as they don't stock the road BB's. I had to get mine (BRI 300) direct from SKF and cost €34 and it's very smooth.

If it's for your winter bike go for a cheapie and run it till it drops. Who cares about weight?
Put the good lightweight stuff on your racing bike.

Sorry my mistake. Still it's a bike you train on. Spend what moneys you have on building
a really good race bike(if you're into racing) and whatever is left, use to keep your other bikes running. You need a good race bike to be competitive.

  • Thanks for the advice Dennis. The quality ISIS BB's are looking quite pricey. Thing is I can't see the point of putting a heavy, cheap quality BB together with one of the lightest chainsets on the market.

Yeah, go for the expensive one. The weight saving offsets that enticing Creme Brulee....
