Hello
I need some advice about what fork i should upgrade to. My current bike is based around a Raleigh RSP 250 frame which i do like and according to what i can find that frame was made in 1999. The orignal forks according to what i could find where Judy XCs. At the moment i have Suntour MG80 on it as i wanted to get it built and they where £30 new also i didn't know much about forks or have much money LOL.
Now to the question bit what would be the maxium travel i could have?? i don't mind looking at used forks but i dont mind buying new if there are some that work with the frame. They have to be V brake compatable as i don't want to change to disc brakes i will do that when i wear this bike out
Thanks
Michael

The 250 was 1999/2000, I remember selling this bike. The earlier version had a Judy C, 80mm travel, the later a yeallow Judy XC, 100mm travel. 100mm is the max I would recommend.0

Thanks for the quick reply, i will limit it too 100MM as currently have 80MM and love the handling just want something better on the bumps as doing alot more XC now. Anything you would sugust? or more importantly any names to avoid? I was looking at rockshox, Marzocchi and fox. I know fox are expensive but not too bad on ebay LOL.0

Depends on your budget really. Marzocchi tend to be higher than most forks, so the 100mm travel just might sit a bit too high. 2nd hand, well, gotta be careful and know the condition - sending Fox off for a service and bushing change aint cheap!
For around 100-150, the Tora and MX Pro are the two best forks. If you can stretch to 200 I'd suggest the RS Reba from Merlin.0
