Campagnolo Xenon or upwards?

Hi there,

I'm about to order a new bike and get to choose the spec. My budget means I pretty much have to go for the cheapest option, but how much advantage is there really in opting for a Campagnolo Mirage set-up over the Xenon? If it's a big difference, I might postpone and save up for the extra.

Cheers

Doesn't the Xenon have plastic levers, and the mirage alloy? That would put me straight off the xenon.

  • Xenon is the old type Bottom Bracket Mirage the new ultra torque. Xenon levers are not worth the repair bill when they wear out.

    Wait get the Mirage option.

Xenon absolutely fine, no problems with wear in 3+ years of solid use (all weathers), can't think what will wear (Down the road ?).

I think you'll be happy with Xenon, why wait ?, get it now !

To cut the cost use the Mirage shifters with a Xenon front and rear mech. The shifters are the importand part of the drive train. If you do use Xenon shifters they will work just fine, I have the old Mirage shifters on my second bike and the plastic levers don't bother me in the least.
