Hi All,
I have a Marin Bear valley late 90's and the stx upper jockey wheel has just snapped off. I have an xt derailleur from another bike is it difficult to swap them over? I magine the hard part is going to be installing the cable does it need specialist tools and Knowledge?
Thanks

simple enough.
i would replace the inner and outer cables at the same time. the stop screws will need resetting.
Good step buy step info on park tools. linky in sig."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I've just replaced the rear mech on my commuter and it was pretty straight forward. If you are happy adjusting a derailleur (and, if not, the parktool article is great, as nicklouse said) the cable is likely to be the trickiest aspect, if my experience is anything to go by.
I used a normal pair of wire clippers that flattened the cable and made it difficult to thread through the mech. - a pair of cable cutters would be great but they're pricey. Then the new mech needed more cable than the old one - fortunately I had just enough but I reckon I was 2mm away from needing to replace the cable too...
