So the day of days arrived this morning - just stumbled out of Condor Cycles £1,100 lighter of pocket but with a new bike, my first ever roadie, on order. :D

Condor Italia with Campag Veloce gruppo and Scirocco wheelset. Black alu with carbon forks and full carbon rear end.

Rich who helped me was great - really made sure I got what I wanted/ needed and the whole fitting process was really interesting too. Was in there for an hour tinkering with stem heights and the like. Might even be making a couple of small adjustments to my MTB before the ride home tonight.

Just the 4-6 weeks wait now - gutted.

sounds like you got a great service, where are condor cycles?

My LBS specialises in MTBs :(
    Road - BTwin Sport 2 16s
    MTB - Trek Fuel 80
    TT - Echelon

  • Gray's Inn Road in London. Thought I should specifically mention the service aspect as they get a very mixed write up on here (not without good reason on some occasions) but I usually find them to be very helpful.

Especially so when you've got four figures to give them - oh shush, cynic in me :)

    Nice one

He fitted me for my Squadra last year, the fitting as you say was very interesting and it's nice knowing it fits me right, I'm going back to get a fixie as soon as I've got a place to put it

A fixie is next on my list too, though prob not from Condor. Quite like the look of the Pearson Touche and also like the fact that they are basically my local bike builder, being about 4 miles from me. There's something kind of cool about that in itself.

Sounds like a top bike.... I'll be looking out for it as you can't be more than a few miles from me (Wimbledon)...

If you're after a fixie, then take a trip to Brixton Cycles too... just near Stockwell tube. Well worth a visit...

The Touche is a good choice, I bought one a few months ago and it is brilliant.

Indeed - Colliers Wood. Often cut through Wimbledon on way to Richmond Park.
  • Ok, so I kinda knew it was coming (collected at weekend) but it's my Xmas pressie to me, hence the centre of attention today :D

Introducing my 08 Condor Italia, dripping with Campag Veloce and Campag Scirocco wheels. Shame it's utterly miserable out and I've got a rough cold. Roll on tomorrow...

    Unlucky.

Here in North Wales there have been clear skies all day, but I too have been ill and unable to go out.

  • Cheers ant, nice bike you've got there too. I definitely fancy a Wilier at some stage.

I went out today hoping to get a decent ride in but blew before I'd hardly gone anywhere. Hit a big hill before I'd had a chance to warm up properly and after that my lungs were burning. Not the greatest idea still carrying a slight cold and the lungs are even still stinging now, over 3 hrs later. Managed 10 miles in total, 5 outward before turning and heading for home.

Bit sad really - that's pretty much the length of my one-way commute!
