Just basically as the title says!! Because my car has become completely shagged due to lack of care/wanting to spend spare change on my bike, I will now need to do a 20 mile round commute every day on my dmr sidekick (the choice for xtreme commuting 8) ) And obviously i need to buy some lights as I end up going through some unlit areas. I wouldnt mind having them usable for offroad aswell, but I'm thinking they'd be too bright for road?!
Any tips!?

I use my hope LED lights on the road. i usually have them on a low setting and pointing more towards the road than usual but they're fine. unless i wanna be seen from the front and/or I'm annoyed with other drivers where i put it on high power0

lmao!! sounds like a good plan, is the low setting a standard feature across all of the high powered lights? Am only looking to spend about 100quid or so...0

It depends on the light really but many of these types of light should have different settings. I've got low, mid, high, flashing.
Basically you can use any lights on the road just have a look around at your budget range and do a search on these forums. theres been loads of threads about lights so you should find a heap load of advice by searching.0 -
The fact you'll be using them most days and so taking them off to charge each night and probably want to take them off to prevent them getting nicked see if you can stretch to an Exposure Joystick Maxx."Internet Forums - an amazing world where outright falsehoods become cyber-facts with a few witty key taps and a carefully placed emoticon."0

unfortunately not, can only stretch to about 100 quid which is sadly limiting!0

have a look at the on-one website they are doing some pretty powerful dinnote lights at a good price 8)Fig rolls: proof that god loves cyclists and that she wants us to do another lap0

Sorry abit of a thread hijack. Will the 200L dinnote one be ok off road as I am in the same situation with a £100 limit. It is the only one that looks remotely suitable.
My other option was a DIY one.0 -
I use a Dinotte 3W on my helmet and a Dinotte 200L on the bike for my nightly ride, which is about 70% through woodland tracks. it works very well (But maybe not quite bright enough for riding trails you are not familar with). What i love about a helmet light that bright is that when a driver cuts you up, if you can catch up on him at the next lights you can turn it on full blast and look straight at him while yelling, it really freaks them out!
The list prices for Dinotte are high, but if you register at Dinottelighting.com they do have clearouts. I was registered cos I ordered replacement parts for my first light (bought from On One), and they notified me on a weekend clear-out, got my second one for just $70.
If you can't stretch to a Dinotte for your helmet, you can get good Petz headtorches for a lot less - Wiggle have them. Not as powerful, but the best of them are pretty good.
