I see planet x are selling off some of their stock of rims at the moment.... and I must say its appealing to the aero freak in me :D 115 squids for a 50mm deep rim. thats not bad is it?

the thing is.... I couldn't build a wheel if I was possessed by the spirit of sheldon brown!

would it be cheaper / better just to buy off the shelf or take the plunge and get a few rims and either have a go or get the lbs to have a go?

i must admit... the idea of getting a 50 front and rear and then an 82 rear too would be nice... :P

So you could effectively build up a carbon wheel for about £340... not bad

  • well when you say 'you'.... i hope you don't mean 'me' :D
i've no idea what i'm doing!! would the 340 be for a set? or just one?
although the idea of getting two carbon 50's and a 82 for the rear sounds good!

Make sure you can source the correct size spokes and decent hubs before buying the rims. Planet X will advise on this, they are really good to deal with.
I have some Navigators (same size rim) and I'm trying to upgrade the spokes because the Navigator spokes are crap and keep breaking. It ain't easy finding any.
