Looking for a 2rnd bike for wife.

Hi there I'm looking to buy a second bike for the wife to ride. I don't think I'll be going to Tescos just yet to get her one ,but I don't wanna spend a fortune on one as she'll only use it on the hard trails 4 or 5 time a year. Mainly when we go out cycling with the kids and centre parc this year! Any ideas, any one see any good deals , I see the giant xtc 4.5 is cheap enough now and something like that would fit the bill.

Might be an idea to look at women specific bikes. I got a girlfriend to get a giant yukon w (£300 at the time) and although it hasn't seen much use yet is a much better fit for her than a mens bike.

Go and try a few out, see how they feel. Fit is very important.

I bought a Trek 3500 for the wife from Evans for under £200 a few months ago.

I'd look at getting her a cheap single speed, much simpler than gears, in my experience gears only rust through not getting used if the terrain doesn't warrant them and the rider doesn't care enough to shift.
