Muscle Pain Question
I have a slight muscle issue that I thought I'd ask about here on the off chance that someone else has experience of it. The problem is on the outside of the left thigh (i.e. the side, not the outer front).
The best way to describe the problem is probably to explain a movement that causes it. Imagine sitting in a chair at a computer. You lift your left leg so that your foot is now off the ground, but the leg is still bent. You then rotate your leg at the hip, so that your left foot crosses in front of your right leg. When I do this, or similar movements, I get a pain down the outside of my left leg, above the knee up to the hip. I've had it for a few months now and having tried various stretches/exercises I've not managed to make any difference.
If anyone knows what this might be due to, and what I could do to fix the problem it would be a great help. I've not been to a professional yet as I recently started in a new job, so don't really feel comfortable about taking time for doctors/physio appiontments at the moment.

Anything that lingers more than a few days should be taken to a good sports physio. Try and get a recommendation from your local club.
It sounds like your hip abductor / adductor could be inbalanced or strained and anything from sports massage to stretches and exercises will probably be used to sought it out. You need a proper diagnosis before you can try and get it fixed though.
You may want to get someone to watch you on your bike for fit and biomechanics - it may be that your affected side is moving horizontally whilst pedalling.0
