Pads available from CRC.
This is the way mechanical discs work: they bend the rotor onto the other fixed pad.
Why do you want to upgrade and what budget?0 -
but which pads there are that many
ok cheers. it was more a question of could i and would it be worth while.0 -
Uusally its best to upgrade as parts wear out, that way you maximise the value of what is an entry level bike. Saying that, a few changes can be made, such as tyres, saddle etc to tailor the ride. The fork isnt too hot, and that would be the first thing to upgrade in my book.0

I'm just about to upgrade from mech discs. I find the constant need to adjust that fixed pads to have the breaks perfect (and i am a perfectionist when it comes to how my bike feels) is annoying me. I also find that in the really gritty stuff the wear on this pad causes performance to drop rapidly.
If you are going for an upgrade you need to consider a few things. Are your leavers and shifters a sigle unit? If they are you need new shifters as well. How much have you got to spend and what type of riding are you doing?
In my case I ride XC and have found a set of avid juicy 5s with 160mm front and rear rotors (which i'm 99% sure I will now buy over the shimano LX or hayes 9s which you can pick up for about £120.
If you just want a bit more power on the cheap and have no problems with mechanical you can go for a bigger rotor (check your forks can take it before you do this, most have a maximum reccomended rotor size). If you ride XC you can get away with lighter systems and smaller rotors. For more DH and freeride stuff you need larger rotors.Giant TCR advanced 2 (Summer/race)

Trek superfly 7 (Summer XC)
