Had anybody used or have any experience of these. I'm doing some research for a wheel upgrade at some point next year, Possibly around the April / May time depending on finances and I'm Looking at Pair of ALPS and JET wheels. They seem to have a good spec and look reasonably priced.

How might they compare against a pair of Mavic Cosmic Carbone SL as thats the other's I was looking at.

I've just over 6ft and 14 stone. I know loosing more weight off of me would improve my speed, I'm currently using a pair of Shimano R550's that came with my bike. I'm diong a mixture of commute to work, pleasure rides and sportives.

thoughts ( yes I know handbuilts ) apart from that what else

Sorry for another wheel question :D

  • i've a set of hed jet 50's and I love them.
they're lighter than the carbones... although I *think* the carbone hubs are slightly better.
they spin up fast and roll well... thinking about getting a set of 60's for another bike... so i definitely like them and would recommend them.

i think the alps are deprecated now in favour of the jets... i think the uk supplier (ciclismo) only has rear alps left.

you can also get the ex version for heavier riders, but at 14 stone I think you'll be fine with the normal ones... check it out of course.

    hope this helps,

Thanks for the info, I'm definately considering the Jet's for what they are they seem well priced and I dont really want to spend anymore than that. The mavic's are a bit more cash and I guess perhaps you're paying for the name a bit to ?

Best crack on with saving the pennies !!
