nope
although some from one speed will work with another from a different speed (with a little tweaking) but I can't remember which off the top of my head.Facts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0 -
Depends what you want to do
You can run shimano rear 7,8 and 9(if you hubub) with campag 10 speed shifters. I run campag 10 shifters with a shimano deore XT rear mech without any problems with an 8 speed block . Hewetts run at least one of their bikes with the same set up with 9 speed and Hewetts would NOT put the system on their bike if there were any problems. When Cycling+ tested the bike there were no negative remarks about the mix of componebts.
There is a chart somwhere which says just what will run with what, no doubt someone will put the link in0 -
Try the venerable www.sheldonbrown.com or http://www.highpath.co.uk/cycles/notes/06.html for a detailed explanation of how to get inter-compatible shifting.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Highpath Engineering in Wales will provide spacers to enable you to use Campag sprockets on Campag hubs for use with Shimano gears.
Also Shimano sprockets on Shimano hubs for use with Campag gears.
The spacing of Shimano freehubs is less than Campag. Campag is a little wider, so the 'throw' of Shimano rear gears is just that bit less and vice-versa with Campag.
Hope I've made this clear, but Highpath website is very good at explaining this and other queries on gearing and also helpful when you phone. Cannot recommend them highly enough!I say what I like and I like what I say!0 -
mike ives wrote:I expect this is an old one but as I am quite new to the Forum I thought I would ask.
Are Shimano shifters compatible with Campag. cassettes and vice versa? I wondered if the distances between 'shifts' might be different. Is this the case?
quick answer is yes ,at least in some combinations.
I have Campy rear and front mechs and a 8 speed EXA campy cassette all Veloche I believe
I use Shimano Sora 8 speed STI shifters and they are absolutly faultless. Never a missed shift or clicking or clacking.
There are some excellent guides on mixing and matching gear around. Sheldon's and Branford Bikes are two of the best.
